The Cross Kings: End of an Era

It is with heavy heart and imminently empty pocket that I feel I should announce, in case any of you have missed the sad news, that the Cross Kings is closing for good (aka bad) this Thursday night.

Enterprise Inns have had enough of us not being able to pay their high rent in addition to their over-priced stock prices and are evicting us this Friday.

We DID know this was possibly in the offing - Enterprise Inns had threatened eviction by the end of May, but we were at the time in serious talks to sell the Cross Kings to the owner of a bunch of other music venues - he wanted to keep us all on in our current roles and honour all the rest of the year's gigs, and we were very hopeful.

That unfortunately stalled 2 weeks ago and then completely fell through. Despite a complete lack of communication and response from Enterprise over the last few weeks we received the eviction notice last Tuesday, and we're all a bit shocked. and imminently jobless :(

If anyone was going to come for the K*nt & the Gang gig on Friday 16th July it is now taking place at the Kings Cross Social Club, 2 Britannia Street.

Thanks for all those of you who drank, danced, played, and generally made merry here. it's been emotional, and it wouldn't have been the same without you.

I hope we all encounter each other in similarly upbeat, dishevelled & drunken bohemian surroundings soon :-) xxx
