FIGHTING IMMIGRATION CONTROLS IN THE WORKPLACE AND THE COMMUNITY

THE GOVERNMENT'S NEW LAWS AGAINST MIGRANTS AT WORK – WHAT THEY ARE,
HOW THEY WORK AND BUILDING THE RESISTANCE!

SUNDAY 9TH DECEMBER 10am-12.30pm at T&G (UNITE) OFFICES, 128
THEOBALDS ROAD, LONDON WC1

(5 minutes from Holborn tube)

Speakers

Jabez Lam, organising Chinese workers in Soho

JavierRuiz, T&G organiser, Justice for Cleaners

TheGovernment has brought in yet more laws against migrants – this
time to make employers police their employees. There will be more
crackdowns on migrants in the workplace using new laws and old laws.
Recently we saw the raids of Chinese restaurants in Soho. This led to
a strike. There is repression but there is resistance.

What should trades unions do? How can migrant workers and migrant
communities respond? Come to this meeting to build links across
communities and across unions so we can act more effectively.

The meeting has been organised by the committee building a trades
union and community conference against immigration controls called by
Finsbury Park RMT branch.
