Tell Downing Street to Support a Living Wage
I have started a petition on the 10 Downing Street website in support of a living wage: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/living-wage-2007/
The difference between this and the national minimum wage is that a living wage is set at a level that will allow full time workers to make ends meet and escape poverty, as opposed to an arbitary level determined by politicians for short term political reasons. For further information, read the details beneath the petition or visit the website links below.
The petition is intended to raise awareness of the living wage issue, and to publicise the London living wage campaign, and in particular the struggles to which it has given rise, such as the T&G's Justice for Cleaners campaign. To this end I have set myself a target to get 10,000 signatures.
If you agree with the petition, I need your support ! Please show your support politically by clicking on the link and filling in your personal details - it only takes a minute to complete - and by encouraging your friends, work colleagues or e-mail networks to sign up too.
Thanks for your time
