Organise 2008!

Celebrating 10 years since the launch of the modern union organising era, it will be an opportunity for trade unionists from across our movement to share experience and to discuss strategies.

We have over 30 agreed speakers and Frances O’Grady will be opening the conference (see attached provisional timetable and poster).

To ensure accessibility we have kept registration for the event at a minimum (just £10, which includes refreshments during the day, lunch, a buffet evening meal and access to a music event in the evening).

The conference is already creating excitement amongst its target audiences: trade union organisers, trade union lay activists and labour movement academics.

We are now writing to all TUC affiliated unions to invite them to support this initiative. We are not asking for money, merely two things:
• to circulate details of the conference to union officers, organisers and lay activists in London
• to add unions to the list of unions publicly endorsing the conference.

The list so far includes ACCORD, Advance, ASLEF, Diageo Staff Association, FBU, FDA, NAPO, RMT, TSSA, Unite, United Road Transport Union.

London Organisers Network is an informal grouping of union organisers in London consisting of trade union organisers and supporters of organising who meet regularly to discuss and learn from each other.

This looks like being a really interesting and exiting event. Registration has now opened for and we advise you to to register as soon as possible as places are limited and these will be issued on a first come basis.

Please use the attached leaflet to display on union noticeboards and please circulate this to union branches.
